No Measure Spring Fold Christmas Card

I've been asked several times for a tutorial on this card. It's one of those cards that look really complicated but is super easy once you know how. I've used a pre-printed card base to save time with matting and layering, plus I really like the paper designs on the cardstock.

I've decided that I'm going to make a few of these to mail out to friends and family this Christmas. The card folds flat and should send as a standard letter.

To make this card I've used:
Anita's Tacky Glue

Instructions
  1. Lay the card flat with the white side showing.
  2. Fold the right edge of the card to the centre crease and then unfold.
  3. Take the top left corner and fold to the centre line.
  4. Repeat the above but with the bottom left corner.
  5. Push the centre fold in the triangle creases towards the middle, it should cause the remaining fold lines to crease.
  6. Lightly mark the top edge of the card at 3" and trim diagonally to the outer edge. See the diagram below. Repeat on the other side. Keep both of the waste triangles.
  7. Use the waste triangles as template to create two miiri board triangles.
  8. Glue the two patterned triangles to the base of the card, trim any excess as necessary.
  9. Adhere the spring part of the card to the base and attach the mirri board panels as shown.
  10. Decorate the card with the stickers, sentiment and image.
Let me know how you get on with these instructions and if you do make any cards following them, please feel free to share them with me.

It's a Gorjuss Christmas - Shaped Bauble Card

I recently demoed this shaped bauble card at Clarkes of Sussex -  The Art Shop in Brighton. Since the picture went up on Facebook and Instagram, I've had several requests asking how I did it. Rather than responding individually, I thought it would be easier to do a tutorial. Sadly I haven't had time to do a step by step photographic one, but as it's a pretty easy card to make I think the instructions will be pretty easy to follow. If not then please message me and I'll try and sort out a photo step by step.

Anyway enough of my chit chat, let's get going!

To create this project you will need:
X-cut Large Ornate Bauble Die (XCU 503957)
Santoro Gorjuss A4 Ultimate Die-Cut & Paper Pack (GOR160902)
Santoro Gorjuss Tag Kit (GOR171900)
Santoro Gorjuss Ribbon (GOR367900)
docrafts Create Christmas Poinsettias (PMA359906)
docrafts Create Christmas Iridescent Stones (PMA351906)
docrafts Mirri Board (ANT1641002)
13.5cm Square Card Blank (ANT1512020)
Faber Castell Metallic Blue Pitt Pen
Anita's Tacky Glue
docrafts Stick It Foam Pads

1. Die-cut the bauble from silver Mirri card.

2. Using Anita's Tacky Glue, adhere the bauble to a sheet of the blue patterned paper from the Ultimate paper pack. Carefully trim around the bauble.

3. Apply glue to the reverse of the bauble. Place the bauble at a slight angle so that it slightly overhangs the spine of the card and sits flush with the base of the card. Trim around the bauble. If the card doesn't stand properly, then trim a small amount from the bottom to create a flat base.

4. Create a bow from the ribbon and adhere to the top of the bauble.

5. Pop out the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Ultimate Kit and mount it onto blue cardstock using foam pads. Adhere to the card.

6. Place the decoupaged Gorjuss Girl centrally onto the card.

7. Remove the red stones from poinsettias and then use the Pitt Pen to change the colour of the flowers. Place iridescent stones in the centre of the flowers. Attach to the bauble as shown.

8. To finish add stones to the centres of the floral designs on the bauble.

If you do recreate this card, or if I've inspired you please feel free to share your work with me.

Gorjuss Girl altered notebook

Another little make that I did a while back and forgot to blog!

This time it's a notebook that I've altered using a Docraft's Gorjuss Girl stamps. I thought I'd try using pastel colours as the Gorjuss range tends to be darker shades. I think it works quite well, what do you think?

Gorjuss Girl burlap bag

I created this bag a while back and have just realised that I've forgotten to blog it!

I used acrylic paints and one of the mid-sized Docraft's Gorjuss Girl stamps on a pre-made hessian/burlap bag. It was a lot trickier than I thought, but the key is not to overwork the paints.

Adrift...........

Isn't she beautiful? This was another of my norty but nice stash purchases that I've only just got round to playing with!! However, the real reason for this post is to let you know about the fabulous challenge GREYS over on the Graph'It Marker Challenge Blog and to announce that I've joined the design team! :)

I'd really love it if you could join us - you don't need to use Graph'It Markers, you simply need to follow the theme set for the challenge. Also, don't forget to pop over to the blog to join in with our Birthday Candy - it is absolutely amazing and I'd love it if one of my followers were to win.

Anyway,  I've decided to keep this make fairly simple to show off the image (as for once I'm actually pretty pleased with my colouring). I've attempted grey sky and moving water!!! Eeek!!

For those of you interested, the colours I used are as follows:
Water: Cool Grey 0 (9100), Cool Grey 1 (9101), Cool Grey 3 (9103)
Sky: Neutral Grey 1 (9501), Neutral Grey 4 (9504), Neutral Grey 6 (9506), Blender (0000)
Skin: Light Caramel (4170), Skin (4155), Powder (4135), Cotton (4115)
Boat: Smoke (3210), Lichen (3230), Havana (3245), Bronze (3250), Cigar (3255), Mocha (3280)
Figure/Flowers: Ghost (4125), Burgundy (5280), Aqua (6110), Lavender (6140), Bougainvillea (6170), Anise (8250), Military (8280)

The white spray was created using my new white Shake Marker from Graph'It - I actually have to say I love it!!! It goes on as a transparent liquid but drys opaque. To create the spray I dabbed the pen around the helm of the boat and then blended it with my fingers. Once it was dry and I was happy with the placement of the spray I gently built it up to increase the depth and tone.

I created the frame from an embroidery hoop which I covered with modelling paste and then painted with re-active paint. I added some punched flowers and leaves that have been painted with the re-active paint. Finally I attached the image to the frame.

Thanks for stopping by today.

New Stash....Norty but Nice!!! ;)

Well...I've been really good and haven't bought any stash for over a year.....then I saw the gorgeous Mirabelle stamps from Santoro were being released!! Need I say more??? Four out the five sets available may or may not be in my possession! :/

You'll have to excuse the shonky photos but for some reason I just could not get a good picture!

I managed to sneak in a quick play and this is what I came up with. I used Graph'It markers to colour the image and create the scene behind her. The gorgeous papers are from the Dollie Daydream Goes East CD from Polka Doodles. The embellishments are a mix of the stamps, die cuts and made items.

Oh and whilst I'm here I can't resist sneaking in a quick picture of the new addition to our family...Lillie. She's three years old and a total madam, who is already ruling the roost!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Thanks for stopping by.
