One Layer CAS Card

This week Stampotique are sponsoring CASual Friday's and the theme is Square Cards. As I've never played along with CASual Friday's, I thought I should pop over to see what it was all about before making my card. I'm really glad I did as it turns out that they are CAS style cards (hint is in the title really I guess :/ doh!!), so one of my multi-layered decoupaged fru fru jobs would be completely out of place! If you want more inspiration for CAS cards, please pop across to the Stampotique Designers Blog where there are some amazing cards on show.

For my card I used Grass and Small Butterfly stamped in Cocoa Memento Ink onto a Distress Inked background. The butterfly has been roughly coloured with Prismacolor Pencils and then brushed with Stickles. The sentiment is a rub on.

Thanks for stopping today. I hope you all have a fab weekend - we're going to sit and watch Airbourne either in the garden, or, I might just pop across the field and watch it from the beach. It all depends on how many people descend upon us for the weekend.

  14. Hello Claire

I stumbled across your blog. Always a pleasure seeing another crafter getting pleasure from what they do.

I think your cards are great, do you sell them on etsy?

I sometimes make my own Christmas cards, I make lino cuts and print them on my old hand press

Im'e a gilder and use gold leaf and imitation gold leaf rather a lot.

Have you thought of gilding onto paper?

It's really quite easy to gild onto paper, there are now modern gold sizes that are simple to use, and there are various ways to create antique and distressed finishes as well., like the crackle glaze and antique glaze.

If you have a moment, pop over to my site, there is quite a lot about gilding onto paper, in particular there is an old bookbinders recipe which you can use to make really authentic looking imitation vellums and parchment papers from ordinary papers.

    Good luck to us all.

    1. Hi Richard

I was hoping to pay a visit to your blog, but I can't find one. However, I have visited your website and there is some amazing info over there. I have book marked you as a favourite and will be paying you a longer visit.

Thank you for the compliment re my cards and for taking the time to leave a comment. I don't sell on Etsy, I'm not sure anyone would buy my stuff! :D

      Thanks again
