Halloween Hanger

Good morning :D

It's time for another challenge over at Polka Doodles and this week we want to see your Autumn creations, so think leaves and swirls with lots of brown, red and orange! This is my contribution this week, I hope you like it!

I printed out the images from the A Sundae of Seasons CD and coloured everything with Distress Inks. The background was created with more Distress Inks, flicked it with water and then spritzed with Glimmer Mist (which sadly doesn't show in my photo, so you'll have to try and imagine the subtle shimmer). The images were mounted onto the background using Pinflair Glue. To finish I added some Stardust Stickles to the pumpkin and curled some wire to create the hanger.

I do hope that you'll join us this week. Remember you don't need to use a Polka Doodles image to enter, just make sure that project fits the theme.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. I shall be clearing my loft in preparation for the builders!

Thanks for stopping by.

It's Groovy Baby!

Well are you sick of summer yet? I'm not it can stay as long as it likes, loving the heat and being out in the air instead of cooped up indoors. Sadly though it looks like it's going to break today, I just hope it's a minor blip!

Anyway, over at Polka Doodles this week we are celebrating SUMMER, so we want to see all your summer themed cards. The prize this week is a copy of the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1 CD . Remember, that whilst we'd be thrilled if you used a Polka Doodles image, it's not compulsory, so I really hope that you'll pop over and join us this week.

I used the fabulous Taylor "Camping Day" by the hugely talented Emma Canning for my card. As soon as I saw her, she shouted "groovy" and images of flowers and peace symbols sprang to mind. Unfortunately, my card didn't quite translate from my head to paper, so I'm not thrilled with it and keep looking at it thinking I will re-make it.

I die cut an easel card using my circular nesties and then covered it in papers from the All Around & Everywhere CD  .The sentiment was computer generated using a font from DaFont, I simply changed the font colour and printed it directly onto the orange polka dot paper, before cutting it out and mounting onto the card using silicone glue. To give it more dimension I've added some Glossy Accents. The flowers with buttons are taken from the Sundae Of Seasons CD.

Taylor was coloured with Promarkers and I've added some sparkle to her dress with my new Copic Atyou Spica Pen. Her glasses and boots have been Glossy Accented and to finish I've added a little punched flower and gem to hairband.

Well that's me about done, I hope you all have a fab weekend.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Life's A Beach!

Hopefully the scheduling widget hasn't let me down today! I'd like to blame Mr Blogger but I think it's more due to my incompetence!!

Anyways. it time for another challenge over at Polka Doodles and this week we want to see Summer! I think someone had the bright idea that if it won't come to us, that'd we'd make our own one! Now I really struggled with this challenge, totally lacked inspiration and kept going back to the same image which I've used a couple of times before. So after much umming and arrggghhhing I decided that I try and scrapbook a picture I took of my son when we were on holiday a couple of years ago. Now I say try, as I'm not a natural scrapper and therefore it's not something I find particularly easy. However, I'm determined that I will persevere as I have so many lovely pictures that are just sitting on my hard drive taking up space that it seems a shame not to do something with them. So here's my project for the week - what do you think?

Materials:
Sundae of Seasons
Studio 12 Picknix - Collection 1
Candy Doodles Collectors Edition
Stickles
Glossy Accents
Prismacolor Pencils

Whilst I hopefully have your attention I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that Polka Doodles has a DT call out at the moment as does Studio 12. You can find all the details of how to apply and what's required by clicking on the links.

I hope you all have fab weekend (although the forecast is pants - again). I think we're going to be stuck indoors doing chores, but I might manage a little trip out to the cinema to see the new Snow White and The Huntsman Movie.

Polka Doodles is 3 And We're Celebrating in Style

Morning! Well the day has finally arrived and it's now time to party! Polka Doodles is 3 years old today and to celebrate Nikky has organised a huge birthday bash with lots of fabby prizes. Now when I say lots, I means LOTS!!!! There's a total of £220 in prizes to be won, with the top prize being approximately £160 in value. Sounds fab huh? Well you could be the lucky recipient of one of these prizes simply by making a special birthday card for us. All you have to do is make a special card with three of something on it (it could be three different papers, 3 flowers or in my case 3 candles). Every single Polka Doodles teamie has made a card to celebrate, so there's plenty of inspiration over on the challenge blog. Here's mine, a pop up card (excuse the dodgy photo - It was such a big card it was almost impossible to photograph, so I've played with it in my graphics programme, but I think a little more practice is required :D)

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your stash and get creating!

Something Old, New, Borrowed & Blue!!!

Morning! It's challenge week again for team B over at Polka Doodles and just in case you hadn't guessed it the theme this week is Weddings.

I decided that I fancied making an exploding box as they always seem to go down well with the recipients and as I had someone to make it for it would so totally be worth the effort involved! So that's what I've done! The old is of course the tried and tested exploding box, the new was my Labels One Nesties and the addition of clothes to the owls, the borrowed was the mini heart punch (courtesy of my lovely friend Maz who for some reason chooses not to blog??!!) and the blue is of course evident in my colour scheming! So here it is:

The gorgeous polkadot paper is from Candy Doodles Collectors Edition CD. The Heart & Button are from the Sundae of Seasons CD and the owls are from the Sugar Birdies Special Collectors Edition CD. I've drawn a jacket and top hat for the male owl and a veil for the female owl to make them look like a married couple. I free-hand cut the horseshoe.

The arch is made from card covered acetate which has been embossed.

The little frame on the front was from Poundland and I've just given it a coat of acrylic paint and brushed it lightly with Distress Ink. The back of the frame has been glued onto the box and the frame simply clips on and off. Needless to say I will be in search of more these as I think they'll be really useful!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Full of Love! Polka Doodles Valentines Challenge

Good morning to you all. I'm here today with my very first official DT card for Polka Doodles. It's a nice easy one this week (well for some of us!) as it's Quick & Easy Valentine Cards. I thought I'd struggle with this one a bit as quick is not in my name or nature when it comes to card making as a rule, but this time I managed a quick and easy card. Yay go me!!!

What do you think??? I think it actually looks quite presentable for a card that took less than 30 minutes (excluding drying time of course)! My son loves it and has nabbed it for his girlfriend (true love at the age of 10!).

I used the Polka Doodles coloured and black/white images from the Sundae of Seasons CD and my graphics programme make the jar full of heart buttons and the heart button embellishment. Once I'd printed out the jar, I decided that it needed a bit of dimension, so popped the card back through the printer and printed out a couple more images. Now if I hadn't done this it would've saved time but tbh it only takes five minutes to cut out the images and I think it was worth the extra time as the jar really pops from the paper.

I ran an embossing tool around the edge of the jar and the other layers and then mounted them onto the card base using silicone glue. Once this was dry I added some Stickles and Glossy Accents to enhance both the jar and hearts. I made the heart button using the same hearts as the jar is full of, but used my pokey tool to make holes before adding some Glossy Accents and black embroidery thread. To finish I matted and layered some pink and card and then added some doodling.

Oh and the sentiment inside the card reads "For you Valentine"

I really hope that you'll join us this week, I'd love to see what you create.

Thanks for stopping by.
