Picnix Nordic Christmas, Take One Make Three More - Part Four

Today I'd like to show you the final card that I have created from the canvas shown in this blog post. This really couldn't be any easier or quicker to make as I've simply printed out the scanned image, matted it onto some card and chucked on a bit of glitter and Glossy Accents.

I hope you've been inspired by this little series of makes and I'd love it if you could show me anything you make. Just remember before you scan your piece of artwork that you've created to check with the original artist to ensure that they don't mind.

Picnix Nordic Christmas, Take One Make Three More - Part 3

This is another project that I made using the scanned canvas image. Again it was really quick and easy and allowed me to use other items that I had in my stash.

I've tried to achieve different looks with each of the cards that I made from the canvas. This was my vintage card. I have to say I think it's my favourite one and I was a little sad to give it away!

Picnix Nordic Christmas, Take One Make Three - Part Two. An Acetate Card

Good morning. I'm back again as promised with one of the projects that I made using the Canvas from this post. Sorry for the pictures in this post but acetate is a complete nightmare to photograph!

As I said previously I scanned the canvas into my computer and simply printed it out to create more projects. This curved front acetate card literally took twenty minutes to create and yet looks like you've put loads of effort into into it.

Take One Make Three Using PolkaDoodles Picnix Collection 3

You're probably wondering what I'm babbling on about huh? Well Friday saw the launch of the fantastic Picnix 3 Collection from PolkaDoodles and I loved it so much that I felt inspired to make a few samples but as always seems to be the way with me at the moment I didn't have a lot time to play. So I decided to cheat a little and made one piece of art which then produced a further three projects. I'll show you these over the next couple of days.

The piece of art in question is a mixed media canvas using one of the stunning backing papers from the collection, some modelling paste and acrylic paints. Once I was happy with my background I printed the robin image from the CD onto some tissue paper and coloured it with Prisma Pencils before adding it to the canvas.

I then scanned the canvas into the computer and use it to create the previously mentioned projects (before you do this please check with the original artist that they are happy for you to do this - the majority are, provided you meet and agree to certain conditions). I was amazed at how well it scanned and re-printed and the best part is it'll be there for me whenever I need quick make!

As is always the way when you leave a piece and come back to it, I decided that it needed something more. So I chucked a bit of Frantage over it and stamped and heat embossed some snowflakes.

Ahh Ha!!! You weren't expecting to see me today were you? I bet you're wondering what I'm upto? Well I'm super proud and rather excited to be able to tell you that I'm part of the Studio 12 Design Team and as such it's my turn to post over on the new Studio 12 blog. If you've not been over there yet, please do stop by as everyday one of the team post an inspirational piece.

Today I've decided to show you my final TV sample that I made using the new All Sewn Up Kit from the Studio 12 -  Picknix Collection 1. I've taken several pictures to try and give you an idea of what the book looks like from different angles (so apologies yet again for another picture heavy post!).

This is the front of the book (see this post for links to the tutorial). The image has been coloured with Promarkers, Flex-markers and Prismacolor Pencils.

I created the shop front window using a Memory Box Die and some Glossy Accents. The Dress Form is a pre-coloured element from the CD. The book is held closed by some seam binding which has been aged with Distress Ink.

Once you open the book, you're greeted by this little scene which has been created using a few buttons and lots of elements from the kit. I only used real buttons cos I was seriously pushed for time on this project, otherwise I'd have used the ones that come with the kit.

The tape measures have been printed onto masking tape. I love the effect that this gives as it looks really delicate, but it's actually really robust! I've then dusted the back of the tape with talcum powder (this stops it sticking together and also from sticking to the wrong place on the layout. Once I've got it in position I've used silcone glue so that the dimension holds.

I made the little fabric roll simply by creating a cardboard tube out of some kraft card and then wrapping some of the DP around it. The edges have been swiped with Distress Inks to make them pop a little. The little dress was created simply by cutting a semi circle of paper and then concertina folding (this forms the skirt) and drawing around the top of the dress form to create the bodice.

The sentiment has been printed onto white cardstock, aged with Distress Ink and then faux stitched. I've added Stickles to the words "Sewing" and "Soul".
