Snowflake Peg Ornament

Just a quickie from me today. I wanted to show you this super easy, super cute snowflake ornament made from clothes pegs. There are loads of tutorials out there for making them, so I won't bore you with the details, just Google Peg Snowflakes 😉

Anyhow, once I'd made the snowflake I gave it coat of Gesso and inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I found a long forgotten pot of Diamond Dust and so gave it a generous sprinkle of that, cos you can never have too much sparkle right?

I then embellished it with the Frosted Fir Adornments and Winters Breath Embellishment Kit from Polkadoodles.

The NOEL was created by ME on my Brother Scan n Cut.... can you tell I'm super proud of myself 😂

I'm undecided as to if this should hang or top my tree....

Thanks for popping in today.

Quick and Easy Christmas Shadow Box

Just whizzing in today to share a super quick and easy piece of home decor. This makes a perfect gift and you cost out the time vs materials it actually makes a good replacement as a card. You'll have to excuse the photos but the weather today is absolutely dire and I didn't have time to faff setting up a lightbox and getting the lighting right, so it's a quick snapshot.

Anyhow, I removed the back panel and glass from the frame. I then covered the back panel with some gorgeous paper from Stampin Unicorn and popped it securely back into the frame.

Next I took some of the Moss from the Winter's Breath Embellishment Kit and used hot glue to secure it to the base. I then cut and arranged some of the gorgeous Frosted Fir Adornments, Glittered Large Branch and Conifer Spray  from Polkadoodles into the frame, allowing some of it to overlap the frame. Once I was happy with the layout I hot glued it into position and added fir cones, cinnamon sticks, a paper poinsettia and a cute little robin.

To finish I added a glittered sentiment and some wooden snowflakes.

I hope you like my project.

Thanks for stopping by.

From Cereal Box to Birdcage!

Just thought I'd share another make from the Honchanda Stampin' Unicorn show. This started life as a docrafts Bare Basic box and a cereal box. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

I need to apologise in advance for the number of pictures but there's a lot of details that I want to show you.

The first thing I did was to cut several strips of card from the cereal box. They were then painted with docrafts Gold Artiste Paint before attaching the "bars" to the box lid using Anita's Tacky Glue.

Next I ran the gorgeous Fourni Papers through my die cutting machine with the LDRS Picnic Quilt embossing folders. Using my finger, I rubbed Faber-Castell Metallic Gelatos over the raised embossed areas. The box was then covered with the papers.

I then die cut several butterflies from the Fourni papers using the LDRS Dotted Wings Die Set and covered them with Stickles Glitter Glue. The hanging butterfly charm from the die set was attached in the roof of the cage.

I used an old Spellbinders die to cut some foliage and coloured it with Distress Inks. Flowers from here were then arranged and adhered to the base and top of the cage.

The little bird is sat on a nest of reindeer moss. I've curled the stems of the flowers around a cocktail stick and then attached the butterflies to give them the appearance of flying.

The tag has been stamped with the mini flower from the Daisy Friends stamp set and attached with ribbon from the embellishment kit.

I hope you like my project and that I've not bored you with all the pictures.

Daisy Friends Simple Stamped Card

This is another of my samples for Stampin' Unicorn using the gorgeous Itsy Ditsy Papers and Daisy Friends Stamp Set.

1. Create a 4" x 6" card blank.

2. Trim a piece of the vintage aqua paper from the Enchanting Tones Paper Pack and a piece of the coordinating patterned paper from the Itsy Ditsy collection, leaving a narrow border on each layer.

3. Place a piece of scrap paper about 1/3rd of the way up the card and then stamp a row of flowers and the daisy from the Daisy Friends stamp set. Colour with Prismacolor pencils.

4. Attach a sentiment from the sentiment/topper grab bag onto the card using foam pads.

5. Colour a wooden butterfly with pencils and add some glitter glue.

6. Randomly place pearls around the large daisy.

Stampin' Unicorn Daisy Friends, Bright & Bold Easel Card

Here's another of my Stampin' Unicorn samples from the debut show on Hochanda. It's a little bit different for me but I really like the bright bold colours.

I stamped the flower from the Daisy Friends stamp set onto card three times, cut it out and then coloured the image with Prismacolor pencils. The flower was then layered up using silicone glue.

The easel card was created using the LDRS Pierced Ovals set. The dies contain a half oval which makes creating an easel card really easy. I used the gorgeous Fourni and Wonderland Papers and one of the Sentiment/Toppers from the Grab Bag.

To finish I added some ribbon and wooden embellishments from the Embellishment Pack. The wooden shapes have been coloured with Prismacolor Pencils.

I'll be back with more samples over the next few days.

Thank for stopping by today.

Elegant Shaped Card

This is my penultimate make from Papercraft Essentials Magazine. I think it's possibly one of the cutest little cards I've made (I actually didn't want to send this one off to the editor).

It was surprisingly difficult to photograph, so I've uploaded two images as one clearly shows the card free standing, whilst the other shows more of the detail.

Got a spare 30 minutes?

If you answered yes, then you have plenty of time to whip up at least three different cards using the Xcut Diamond Lattice Cut and Emboss Folder.

I've used the vellum from the Capsule Elements Pigments A4 Ultimate Paper Collection to make these two cards. The vellum is beautiful and has a ombre effect. It dry embosses perfectly and as you can see from the second card accepts heat embossing perfectly too.

The third card is using one of the papers from the above collection. Again I've used heat embossing on the card.

Batman Shadow Box Card

It was my daughter's boyfriend's 21st Birthday recently and he's a big DC Comics fan. As always time was really short, so when I spotted a DC Comics die-cut decoupage kit I thought it would be perfect for a really speedy make.

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out and will be making lots more cards with the kit as there's far more in there than I anticipated!

Winnie in Winterland Bauble Card

Just thought I'd share another recent make using Winnie in Winterland that you may have spied on the recent Polkadoodles Create & Craft TV show.

This was a really simple make and I love how it turned out!

To make this card I simply enlarged the bauble from the disc in a word document. Printed and cut it out, then adhered it to an 8" x 8" card blank, ensuring that part of the bauble overhung the spine. It was then trimmed to size and embellished with a mix of foliage and flowers from the CD. I also added a few of the little pine cones that I made using the flower dies (tutorial here). To finish I added some glitter glue and a sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Thank you fairy much!

Another quick and easy card from me today.

1.   Cut a piece of watercolour card to fit the Xcut Flower Fairies folder and then run through the Xpress die cutting machine.

2.   Scribble selected colours from the Santoro watercolour pen set onto an acrylic block. Using a water brush to pick up the pigment, carefully colour the raised images.

3.  Create a card base measuring 11cm x 14.5cm from white cardstock. Trim the watercolour card to fit the base, leaving a narrow border.

4.  Glue Anita’s Pastel Vellum on the reverse side of the image attach to the card using foam pads.

5.   Add some Craft Planet Iridescent Glitter glue to the dragonflies and fairies. To finish pop on an Anita's glittered sentiment.

Winnie in Winterland Snowglobe

Hi. I just thought I'd stop by today and show you this snow globe I created using the gorgeous Winnie in Winterland from Polkadoodles.

I've wanted to make a giant snow globe for ages, but have been waiting for the right image to come along. When I spotted this cute little image I just knew she'd be perfect.

If you want recreate this project, I've listed the materials at the end of this post. Below you will find a brief step by step of how it was created. If you do make your own globe or use my project as inspiration to create your own, please link back here so I can pop over to see your work.

1. Gather your supplies.

2. Die-cut the lamp post and railings from a cereal box or chipboard. I used a cereal box and glued five die-cuts together to create a sturdy piece that didn't bend or flex easily. Paint with acrylic paint. Cut a panel from vellum to create the lamp glass and glue in position. Once the paint is dry, add "snow" using modelling paste and glitter. Set aside.

3. Take a square of wet florist foam and cut it to fit comfortably inside of the neck of the bowl. Using a sharp knife, carve snow drifts into the foam. Once you are happy with the drifts, cover the foam in layer or two of Craft Planet PVA Glue and white kitchen towel. Set aside to dry thoroughly.

4. Using hot glue adhere a large marble to the centre of the jam jar lid. Cover with a layer of gesso and then acrylic paint. Once dry, glue a length of lace and some string pearls to the edge.

5. Cover the base board of the globe with patterned paper and trim with string pearls.

6. Resize Winnie  and a sentiment in your computer programme. If you are unsure of how to do this pop over to the Polkadoodles store where Nikky has a some instructions. Print out and then fussy cut the images. Add cocktail sticks to the bottom of Winnie and the lamppost (these are used to secure here into the base).

7. Paint the foam base with acrylic paint and whilst wet add a mix of faux snow and glitter. Once dry double check that bowl fits snuggly over the landscape base and then glue the landscape onto the base. Arrange the die cuts, tree and image as desired. If you are adding lights you will need to poke a hole through both bases and pass the lights up through. Arrange the lights on the tree and at the back of the lamppost.

8. Once you are happy with your arrangement, glue the globe into position. Add the jar lid.

9. Arrange a mixture of foliage and flowers to finish. I added some paper pine cones using Flowers 1 & 2 die sets (see this how to I did a while back).

I hope you like my little project and find my instructions easy to follow. If you have any questions please ask.

Thanks for stopping by today.
