Tatty Twinkles USA - Altered Sneakers Mini Tutorial

Happy New Year to you all. Sorry I've not posted for ages but life has been a little chaotic here and I sadly lost my Grandfather on Christmas Eve. As a result I'm afraid that my posts will remain very sporadic.

A little while ago I told you that I was working on a really exciting project, well finally I can you what it is. As some of you may or may not be aware Create & Craft have officially launched in the USA and one of the first products to be shown was a new line of Tatty Twinkles stamps and dies. Guess who was asked to create some projects for the launch? Yes that's right me! Talk about lucky huh? Anyway, I decided that I'd alter a pair of sneakers which was great fun and definitely something I will be doing in the future. I've also made this into a mini tutorial just in case anyone fancies having a go themselves.

The sneakers were a cheap and cheerful pair from Primark which had been reduced to clear as they were slightly marked. This meant I had to even out the base, so I covered them with a thin coat of Gesso.

I then stamped the images onto tissue paper using Stazon Ink and tore the images out carefully before painting a thin coat of Gesso over the image. I then coloured the images with my Graph'It markers on the reverse.

Next I coated the images with Mod Podge and adhered them to the shoes.

Once the Mod Podge had dried I used a Graph'It Marker to draw around the images to make them pop a little more and then added some Stickles Glitter Glue for a bit of added sparkle.

To finish I added some funky ribbon for laces.

I hope you like my little project and if you decide to make your own sneakers using this tutorial please link back here and show me what you've done.

I'll be back later in the week another of my samples. Thanks for stopping by today.
