Yet More Polar Bears!!

OK, OK I hear ya - change the image Claire! I promise this my last card for year using this image!!! Need a five minute make? Then this is it - from the point of printing the image out to tying the bow it literally took five minutes!

The image was printed onto white cardstock. It was then cut to size, a double sided adhesive sheet applied and then sprinkled with ultra-fine glitter. The image was then mounted onto silver mirror card and attached to the cardbase. I've stamped and heat embossed the LOTV sentiment and mounted it onto silver mirror board. A piece of silver cord was tied around the card and that was it done

Don't forget today is your final chance to win this image. All you need to do is leave me a little love on my original blog hop post. The winner will be announced tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by

Polar Bears Shaker Card

I told you I'd be back with some more cards that I'd made with the Polar Bears image from Delicious Doodles! Remember if you want to win this image all you need to do is comment on my blog post announcing the new challenge and blog hop. Alternatively, you can complete the blog hop and submit any project into the challenge and if you're the lucky winner you will be able choose it as part of your prize.

This card is another relatively straight forward and simple one (especially if you have square nesties - if not then you might want to use the nesties you have). It's huge card (8 x 8) and I have to say I found it a bit intimidating.

I've coloured the image with Promarkers. The white frame has been handcut (not my favourite job - three attempts to get it right hence my suggestion above) and then embossed, highlighted with Sakura glitter pen and mounted onto gold mirror board. I've used some iridescent glitter that I've had knocking around for ages and my new freebie snowflake punch for the shaker contents. The large snowflake has been stickled and I've added an embossed sentiment from my new LOTV stamp set. The "Make a Wish" sentiment is from a Dandelion & Daisy set, which I've cut down and then mounted on gold mirror board.

I'll be bringing you one more card made with this image tomorrow and I promise that will be it!!

It's those polar bears again!!

I wanted to show you how versatile this image is and so have made a few cards using it. This card was fairly quick and easy to make and is ideal for posting as it's completely flat (so no hefty postage charges and no snagging of embellies in the sorting machines).

I stamped the cardbase with Versamark and sprinkled it with Silver Heat It Up embossing powder. The image was printed multiple times onto white cardstock (I only used the one image for this card, but have used the others to make a card I'll show you later in the week). It was then cut to size, double sided adhesive sheet applied and then sprinkled with ultra-fine glitter (note no colouring involved). The image was then mounted onto silver mirror card and attached to the cardbase. I stamped and heat embossed Merry Christmas inside the card and that was it done!

Don't forget you could win this image simply by leaving me a little love on my original blog hop post.

Christmas Is Coming!!! Fancy £35 To Spend At CSN?

NOW CLOSED Well as promised I'm bringing you yet another giveaway from those exceptionally generous folks over at CSN. As many of you are aware, CSN have a number of fabulous online stores where you can find everything from unique lighting, to modern bedroom furniture, or great cookware!

This time they're offering one of my lucky readers the chance to win a £35 CSN gift voucher (international commentators are more than welcome). I had a look around to see what sort of things the lucky winner could spend their money on and was delighted to find this Santa Claus Jigsaw Cookie Cutter for £9.99 (which would mean that you still had £25 to spend on some of the other fab items they stock).

How fab is he?? I thought the cookies given in a fancy gift bag with a nice tag with the wording "Build a Santa"  would make a great novelty gift for kids.

All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning the voucher is:

1. Become a follower of this blog

2. Post about this giveaway on your blog

3. Leave me a comment on this post telling me which item/s you'd spend the voucher on.

You have until 08/12/2010 23:59 (GMT) and I'll draw the lucky winner on 09/12/2010. Please be sure to check back to see if you are the winner. Your voucher will be sent via email as soon as I receive contact from you. Only one entry per person please. If the winner does not contact me within 7 days of winning I will select another winner.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck.

Just to remind you that the Dragon has just released loads of new images for Christmas and to celebrate she's set a very special challenge with some fantastic prizes. If you enter the challenge using one of our images you will be eligible to enter into the draw to win one of the Grand Prizes. Pop over to the blog to check out the prizes and get some inspiration from the other DT girls.

This is another one of the new Christmas images from Dragon's Lair Designs. Isn't he just the cutest?

The image has been printed out three times, coloured with Promarkers, cut out and decoupaged. Stickles have been added to the hat, eyes, mouth and scarf. I've used some freebie digi papers which have been distressed and faux stitched. The snowflakes have been cut using Marianne Creatables. They've then been distressed, stickled and blinged up with gems. The sentiments have been stamped using my new Lily of the Valley set (one of my NEC purchases).

I do hope you can join us for this very special challenge.

Unregrettable Pirate Life - Altered Notebook

It's time for another challenge over at Sweet Pea Stampers and this time we have a sketch for you to follow.
The prize this week is these three fabulous Sweet Pea Stamps. I really hope that you'll be joining us.

I decided that I'd use the sketch to alter a notebook for my daughter. My friend had picked up a pile of these horrible notebooks and her boys flatly refused to use them, so she was chucking them out! Being the horder that I am, I rescued them and have transformed this one into something slightly prettier!

I started off by prising open the wire to release the front and back cover. I then covered them with Pirate Princess papers from Rusty Pickle and inked the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink. The panels were matted and layered onto to some silver cardstock from The Papermill.

I stamped the image Unregrettable Pirate Life from Sweet Pea Stamps with Memento ink and then coloured it with Promarkers. The image was then spritzed with Glimmer Mist and given a generous coating of Stickles and Glossy Accents. It was then matted onto the silver cardstock which was distressed with a distressing tool and inks. The sentiment was computer generated and cut out using Nesties. Again the edges were inked with Black Soot. The notebook was then reassembled, prettied up with ribbons and gems et voila the finished product!

Thanks for stopping by and I'll look forward to seeing your entries.

It's here!!! Delicious Doodles Blog Hop & First Challenge

Well the day has come for the first ever Delicious Doodles Challenge, and what an easy one we have to start the ball rolling!! It's ANYTHING GOES so I really hope that you'll be joining us! To celebrate the launch, we're having a blog hop.
However, it's not any old Blog Hop - oh no!! Each girl on the DT has an image to giveaway, that's right - GIVE AWAY. It will be the image used to make their creation! So, if you want to win these images, all you need do is leave a comment on the DT members blog. The image I used can be seen on my card at the bottom of this post.

If that isn't enough to get you all excited, Teri is also going to give away TEN DIGI IMAGES on the Challenge Blog. The Challenge winner will get to choose 10 digi's from the Delicious Doodles Shop!! BUT to qualify for this awesome prize there is a small catch! You must comment on ALL of the DT Blogs, AND make a project to enter.

OK, are you ready? Lets go!!! The hop starts here

If you're already part of the hop you should have arrived from Amy's Blog and your next stop is Alex's Blog.

Just in case you get lost, here's the Blog Hop order ( yes I know there are a few of us, but that way we can bring you weekly challenges with plenty of inspiration).

(Team A):

(Team B):

Teri (Store Owner) and then back to the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog to enter your creation for your chance to win the fabby TEN digi-images of your choice!!

Phew! Hope you got all that peeps!

The Challenge and Blog Hop will finish on Thursday 25th November at 6pm GMT (UK time). Each winner for the individual digi's will be announced on the DT members Blogs, so be sure to follow them if you want to know who their winners are!

The Grand Prize winner will be announced on the Challenge Blog on the morning of Friday 26th November before the next Challenge goes live later that day.

So if your still with me here's my card (I'm so sorry for the pictures, but it was a complete nightmare to photograph). Remember, if you want to be in with a chance of winning this image all you need to do is leave me some love ;)

The image was coloured with Promarkers, then covered with a Hobby Craft adhesive sheet and sprinkled with iridescent ultra-fine glitter. I cut some acetate to size, scored it down the centre and then randomly stamped snowflakes over it with Stazon. Once that had dried the image was layered up and mounted onto the acetate with glue dots. Then mats of the same size were used to cover the rear of the image and the inside/back of the card. This also added some stability to the card. I then added a Marianne Creatables Snowflake die cut coated with Stardust and Gold Stickles. The sentiment is from my new LOTV set.

This photograph is the unmounted image, but it shows the sparkle and glimmer a little better.

If you've got this far, thank you so much for sticking with this epic post, and I wish you ALL the very best of luck.

Did you guess the weight of the wreath correctly?

Thanks to all of you who left comments on my candy wreath. Nobody guessed the correct weight which was.................2.378kg. Yes it took almost three tins of Celebrations!!

So, onto the winner............... who is Marg who said "Wow Claire, that's fabulous! all that yummy chocolate. I daren't buy any but would love to know how you did it. My guess is 1.5kg. (even though I'm a lb oz sort of girl)" . So Marg if you can send me your details and I'll pop a little something in the post for you.

If you didn't win this time, be sure to check back here tomorrow as I will be giving you the chance to win a little something in exchange for some love!! Also, just a heads up that I'll be doing another CSN giveaway in the next couple of days, so you'll need to keep your eye's peeled for that.

Also, as so many of you asked how I made the wreath I've attached a You Tube video, which I felt was the most useful (you would not believe how many videos and tutorials there are out there and yes I trawled through a fair number of them before finding this one).

I'll leave you with a few hints and tips that I've discovered, if you can't get hold of wire coat hangers your local florists should be able to help you out for a very small fee. I've also made these wreaths using polystyrene wreath frames and a hot glue gun as it greatly reduces the number of sweets you use! You can also use curling ribbon to attach the sweets as again it reduces the number required.

Cottage in the Snow Shaker Easel Card

I'm just popping by to quickly share a card with you and remind you that the Delicious Doodles first ever challenge starts on Friday. Please do come and join us as it's going to be a complete blast with plenty of prizes and surprises! If you've not already been to visit the challenge blog, pop over there as Teri is giving away five digi images to one lucky follower once we reach the magic 100 (at the time of writing this post there are 94, so it won't be long to wait).

The other day I made my first ever shaker card (which I'll share with you in next few days), and loved it! For some reason it took me back to being a child again and playing with a snowglobe that only came out at Christmas. It also sparked a few ideas in my head for other cards and images, this being one of them.

The image is from Delicious Doodles Shop and has been coloured with Promarkers. The wood on the doors and windows has been varnished with Glossy Accents and the snow has been given some shimmer with a combination of Picket Fence and Stardust Stickles. I've punched some snowflakes and then glittered them for the shaker contents.

The easel base and shaker frame have been created with my nesties and then embossed with a Sizzix Texturz Plate. The edges of the card have been inked with silver. The snowflake embellishment has been cut with a Marianne Creatables die. The sentiment is from Papermania.

Winner of the CSN Giveaway

Thank you to all that entered the giveaway. If you didn't win this time stay tuned as I have another one coming up really soon. Also, don't forget I have a small giveaway running for the person who leaves a comment on this post correctly guessing the weight of the wreath.

Right onto the winner! There were 18 comments (two from the same person as they forgotten to add which item they'd like), so I only counted one of their comments and then assigned the numbers 1 -17 to the commentators in the order in which they were left, put them into the Mr Random thingy widget who selected number 14 Kelsmakes.

Congratulations hun, if you'd like to drop me an email and I'll send your voucher over to you. If I don't hear anything by 21/11/2010 then I will draw a new winner on 22/11/2010.

Mother Mary Christmas Card

It's time for me to post over at The Delicious Doodles Blog again. For my card this week I just had to use the new Mother Mary image - isn't she just beautiful? As soon as I saw her I knew that I wanted to use her on a couple of my Christmas cards.

It's a really simple and straight forward card that took less than 30 minutes to make. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and then die cut using Nestabilities. I have to say the image was a dream to colour and literally took five minutes (Teri does all the hardwork for you, so there's no need to worry about shading or having loads of different colours) and used the grand total of five Promarkers! Using a cocktail stick, I've added the slightest hint of sparkle around the edge of the card with gold Stickles and added odd dots of waterfall Stickles to the DP. The sentiment has been stamped and heat embossed.

Now, just in case you haven't heard something exciting is happening on the 19th November.... that's right we're launching our first challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog. To kick of we're having a blog hop with loads of Delicious Doodles images as prizes. So, if you haven't already become a follower of the blog, be sure to hot foot it over there so you don't miss any of the fun, especially as Teri is currently offering some super blog candy once we reach 100 followers! Also, feel free to grab this banner to help us spread the word.

Oh and just a reminder my £30 CSN voucher giveaway finishes on the 13/11, so be sure to make a comment to be in with a chance of winning.

It's a Boy!

This is a quick post from me today as I've been upto the NEC and as a result am way behind schedule :(

Anyway, my friends' baby is due any day now and it's supposed to be a boy. She wanted some birth announcement cards made up, so I thought I'd better get a wriggle on! I decided that I'd have a little play with the pull tag mechanism again and this is what I came up with. I'm going to attach a picture of the baby (once he's here) to the rear of the little birth details card.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers and then paper pieced. I've added some faux stitching to the bear and drawn the little bow tie around his neck. The edges of the papers have also been faux stitched. The white card pieces have been edged with Papersoft.

Make sure you mark next Friday on your calendars as you won't want to miss the new challenge over at Stampin' with the Dragon! It's gonna be huge and heaps of fun and there will be some fab prizes up for grabs.

I'm coming to get you!!!

It's Wednesday again which means it's my turn to post over at the Delicious Doodles Blog. If you haven't stopped by, please do, the girls post daily and there is some really inspirational work. Also don't forget to mark your calendars for the 19th November when we kick off our challenge blog with a fab blog hop which will have loads of fun stuff and prizes.

Now I know Halloween has been gone, but I just have to share this little ATC I made using the The Grim Reaper image. I actually made this for the lovely Debbie (aka Padster from Padster's Marmalade Mutterings) who was my swap partner over at The Crafty Place. I really hope she liked it.

This is something totally different for me and was my first attempt at using my new graphics programme. I used the woodland backing paper and then dropped the digi stamp of the The Grim Reaper onto to it, added some text and printed it out. I coloured the image with Promarkers and added a some stickles. Then using this tutorial (which I adapted) I made the ATC treat pouch. The chocolate bar wrapper and pull tab were also created using my graphics programme.

I'm definitely going to be doing more things like this and am in the process of making a larger pouch using "Grim" for a birthday treat for one of our friends who is going to be 50 very shortly. I can't post it on here yet as he reads my blog.
